Important Information

Optometrists in South Carolina need to complete a total of 40 hours of continuing education every two years, including 16 hours of Pharmacology or pathology and four hours of Mandated health care programs (HIPAA, Medicare, Ethics/Jurisprudence — max); the rest can be general CE of your choosing. A few additional topics apply only in certain situations — see the asterisked items above.

Renewal periods in South Carolina run two years and end on December 31 for every licensee. Complete all required hours before that date.
