- Law and Ethics — 6 hours
- Suicide Risk Assessment and Intervention (one-time)* — 6 hours
- Telehealth (one-time)* — 3 hours
- HIV/AIDS (first renewal only)* — 7 hours
- General CE — 30 hours

Important Information
Social workers in California need to complete a total of 36 hours of continuing education every two years, six hours of which are in Law and Ethics, and the rest can be general CE of your choosing. A few additional topics apply only in certain situations — see the asterisked items above.
Your renewal date is tied to the date your license was issued, so it is individual to you. Periods run two years. Check your license or board account for your exact date.
